Rooted in the Civic Literacy Curriculum from the Center for American Civics at Arizona State University, this series is a collaborative project supported by the School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership. Dr. Allison Finkelstein

Allison S. Finkelstein is a historian for the U.S. Army and a specialist in World War I history. She earned her Ph.D. in U.S. History from the University of Maryland, College Park, and has worked with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services History Office, the American Battle Monuments Commission, and the Vietnam War Commemoration Office. Dr. Finkelstein is the author of Forgotten Veterans, Invisible Memorials: How American Women Commemorated the Great War, 1917-1945, which received the 2022 MARAC Arline Custer Memorial Award. Her public history work includes museum exhibits, educational programs, documentaries, and commemorative projects, and her scholarship and commentary have been featured by major national media outlets.
